Hello, JCA! Hello to the old guard and hello to the new recruits!
Alex here, bringing you up to speed on the upcoming meeting. Even though I had to leave early last week, I think it’s safe to say that the first meeting went over pretty well. And as always, it’s great to see that the long-standing tradition of random and unexpected technical difficulties during the first meeting persists for one more year. Seriously, this is my 6th year here, and I don’t ever recall even one of these fucking things going through without a hitch. It’s almost like there’s some sort ofAW LAWD
That aside, fall season is almost upon us, so we’ve decided that the next meeting would be a good chance to wrap up the summer and showing some shows from last season that might be worth a watch. Unfortunately, I haven’t really seen any of these shows yet, but I can assure you that I
looked them up on Wikipedia did extensive research on them.
Oh, and it just so happens that all of them have “Bunny” somewhere in the title. I swear this was not intentional.
This Friday, JCA is proud to present:
Going home from his grandfather’s funeral, thirty-year-old Daikichi is floored to discover that the old man had an illegitimate child with a younger lover. The rest of his family is equally shocked and embarrassed by this surprise development, and not one of them wants anything to do with the silent little girl, Rin Kaga. In a fit of anger, Daikichi decides to take her in himself. As Daikichi nurtures Rin, he started to understand the struggle, at the same time coming to appreciate the best moment of parenting.
The premise sounds a lot like Aishiteruze Baby, so I’m expecting lots of D’AWWW. :3
-TIGER & BUNNY
Sternbild City is home to people called “Next,” who use their special abilities to protect the people as superheroes. These heroes solve cases and save lives so they can wear sponsor logos or acquire “hero points.” Their activities are documented on the popular program “Hero TV,” which picks the “King of Heroes” in a yearly ranking. The veteran hero Wild Tiger has always preferred to work alone, but now he’s been assigned the rookie Barnaby Brooks Jr., who has a different perspective on being a superhero.
If you’re like me and find the idea of corporate superheroes highly amusing and brimming with potential, you might also want to check out Shinesman (which we showed last semester) and the Ratman manga (which unfortunately hasn’t been picked up for an adaptation yet, but here’s to hoping). In the meantime, I’m waiting for a healthy dose of FUCK YEAR!
-ITSUKA TENMA NO KURO USAGI (ITSUTEN)
When Taito Kurogane was little he met Himea Saito, a vampire girl who gave him a curse of living after dying, but dies after being killed the 7th time. Himea was then taken away from Taito, who loses all memory of her. After 9 years, Taito is now in high school, and has freed Himea, and they begin to catch up on the 9 years away from each other.
Touhou: High School Edition? I certainly hope so. :3
Here’s to a good year, and see you all at the meeting!
Over and out.
